John Deere Construction and Forestry is seeking an Powertrain Engineer to integrate John Deere engine and drivetrain applications in the Skidder and Wheeled Feller Buncher product lines. In this position, you will:
Work with suppliers to integrate components into new designs.
Use analytical methods and tools to verify design solutions.
Participate in the investigation and troubleshooting of powertrain issues.
Work with John Deere Power Systems to provide design solutions and resolve powertrain issues.
Work with a multi-discipline team with a goal of improving quality, manufacturability, service access, and lower cost.
Travel to customer sites to support Tier 4 mules and/or physical builds.
Education
Four year degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering or equivalent experience.
Required Skills and Experience
General understanding of powertrain system design.
Experience with solid modeling and analysis tools.
Ability to work in a cross functional team environment and be self motivated to achieve exceptional results.
Proficiency with problem identification and resolution.
Willingness to travel both in the US and internationally, up to 10%.
Desired Skills and Experience
Understanding of diesel or gas engines with experience in engine application, cooling systems, or installation in off-road equipment.
Understanding of drivetrain applications.
Pro/Engineer experience.
Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with mechanical equipment.
