Explanation Statement
John Deere Davenport Works, in Davenport, Iowa, is seeking a Material Flow Coordinator (Loader) to work with the Supply Management Specialist, the supplier, assembly engineering and manufacturing to set up preferred delivery mechanisms within the factory, while driving optimal inventory levels. In this position, you will:
Follow the established Kanban sizing process.
Review proposed deviations with the Supply Management Specialist, Preferred Material Delivery Specialist, or Manager prior to making change.
Coordinate material and support the implementation of engineering decisions, durability builds, and pilot production builds.
Identify and manage Returnable Containers for new product.
Manage Kanban labels and maintain Raw in Process (RIP) and line locations in the Kanban system.
Resolve problems and communicate regarding material issues between Point of Receipt and Point of Use (POU), by doing the following:
Use the current Material Flow tools.
Spend a minimum of one hour daily on the shop floor proactively seeking part shortages or process deviations.
Audit assembly stations for full POU and RIP footprints
Follow up and follow through on communications to the Production Supervisor, Supply Management Specialist, and the third party warehouse (and supplier if necessary).
Drive for process improvements and raise Kanban knowledge among assemblers and Material Handlers.
Visit the assembly line daily, proactively soliciting assembler's input regarding Kanban or part issues.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor degree in Business or Supply Management or equivalent experience.
Required Skills and Experience
Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word.
Ability to use Business Objects.
Understanding of factory/manufacturing processes.
Effective time management skills.
Good interpersonal communication skills.
Good documentation, planning, decision making, and organizational skills.
Analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deal with multiple demands.
Desired Skills and Experience
Good understanding of material flow and/or supply management processes.
Experience using a Common Purchasing System (CPS).
Initiative to seek additional responsibility.
