Position Description
This position is in support of the Secure Border Initiative (SBInet) program. The objective of SBInet is to provide an integrated defense-in-depth that will support the interdiction of illegal immigration and internal and external threats operating in or moving through the international borders with Canada and Mexico. Managing, securing, and controlling the border requires determining the optimum mix of technology, infrastructure, and response platforms to achieve maximum tactical and strategic advantage in each unique border environment. This manager is responsible for all related cost, schedule and technical execution as well as input into strategy, teaming and technical offerings. Execution, customer satisfaction and profitable growth are paramount in the successful accomplishment of this position. This position will require the application of knowledge of Command and Control relevant technologies. As the SBInet Communications IPT Senior manager, responsibilities include: Management of employees and mid-level managers performing activities within multiple (2 or more) Engineering disciplines. Development and execution of integrated organizational plans, policies and procedures and guides the development of business and technical strategies, goals, objectives. Acquiring resources for organizational activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements. Developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. Providing oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Managing, developing and motivating employees and mid-level managers. Candidates should be familiar with Microwave, Wireless Broadband Communications, as well as other all other means of communications and understand Network Architectures. Some familiarity with Information Assurance best practices is a plus. Candidates should possess the ability to evaluate bandwidth requirements based on information flows, and the ability to lead and manage a diverse group of individuals in defining communications solutions and network architectures. Note: This is a replacement for req 08-1010245, to correct clearance requirements.

Preferred: Educational credentials meeting the Boeing classification standards for engineers and typically 14 to 19 years experience in an engineering classification or a Masters degree with 12 to 17 years experience or a PhD with 9 to 14 years experience. The successful candidate must currently possess or be able to favorably pass a background investigation, with approval from Customs & Border Protection (CBP), Security Programs Division.
