Position Description
Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Interceptor Flight Test based out of Vandenberg Air Force Base (VFAB), CA. Support the planning, coordination and execution of the GMD Interceptor missile assembly and integrated flight testing at Vandenberg AFB, CA. Develop expert knowledge of all Interceptor systems including Space Integrated GPS/INS, Flight Computer, Modular Avionics Control Hardware, Payload Avionics, Telemetry and non-tactical avionics. Execute test plans and procedures for the missile assembly, missile ground testing, pre-launch integration and launch operations. Interact with subcontractors and other GMD product teams in the coordination of customer requirements and avionics operations. This assignment will involve supporting Electrical Testing of GMD Interceptor flight tests at VAFB, establishing effective working relationship with Interceptor personnel, test personnel from other product teams and subcontractors. Participate in Flight Test Team integration meetings that may require travel to development and integration sites. Specific skills are as follows: - Leads others in the development of standard test methods and processes and applies advanced test technologies to create or improve test methods. - Applies emerging industry technologies to develop test procedures. Reviews critical procedures to identify potential problems and resolve issues. - Analyzes processes for potential improvements and recommends associated changes. - Develops the standard policies for post-test activity. Resolves or oversees resolution of special test procedures. - Works with the enterprise test and engineering group to standardize evaluation techniques. Formulates expectations for test data for new or unique tests. - Trains and coaches others. Works under consultative direction

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry and typically 14 to 19 years experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 12 to 17 years experience or a PhD degree with 9 to 14 years experience in an engineering classification. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
