The Sr. Manager is directly responsible for the weekly financial forecasting and will assist in the preparation of the annual finance budget for HSN TV. This person is will be responsible for the reconciliation of finance and merchandising reporting systems and various ad hoc projects.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Financial Forecasting / Budgeting:
Directly responsible for the weekly financial forecasting of HSN TV on-air businesses. Forecasts include estimated sales, returns, cash discounts, S&H revenue, COS, liquidation, inventory levels, receipts, warehouse operating expenses, and freight costs. Forecasting responsibilities also include collaborating with Accounting, Logistics, Merchandising and Marketing in projecting accruals, inventory reserves, vendor EDI transmissions & various commissions.
Identify and present all forecast assumptions, budget variances, trends, risks, up-side potential and opportunities to executive-level management.
Serve as an Account Executive between Merchandising, Accounting, Finance and Fulfillment centers by updating each respective department on upcoming projects, inventory flow and other variables affecting operations. This role is highly challenging, as it requires being firm with facts yet gaining collaboration between multiple departments and among personnel at the VP level and above.
Assist in preparation of annual sales, margin budget creation for HSN TV on-air businesses.
Performance & Executive Reporting:
Develop & present P&L’s gauging sales performance, break-even benchmarks, ROI, cost/benefit analysis and overall profitability of individual HSN businesses or new initiatives.
Evaluate legal contract agreements and merchandising new-deal proposals; submit profitability improvement recommendations or alternatives when needed.
Identify & reconcile variances between financial and merchandising reporting systems. Drill down to understand the causes for the variances and work with IT as necessary to reconcile the systems.
Identify and report year over year margin variances between business and finance reporting. Manage the Planner grid and bottoms-up financial planning processes, verifying total sales and margin bottom’s-up estimates meet plan objectives; report variances when needed.
Supervise various Merchandising reporting applications including, Weekly Sales & Profitability, OTB reporting, Sales & Margin Comparisons, and Aged Inventory forecasts.
Direct Business Analyst in the publication of daily, weekly and monthly executive-level financial reporting of all HSN domestic and international subsidiaries. This role requires leadership skills as well as the ability to many tasks simultaneously.
Other Job Requirements:
Administer the product fallout and return tables, in an effort to reduce inventory short lots and accurately project net sales and net margin. Review results with key vendors when needed.
Called upon to manage various ad hoc projects.
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of 5-8 years experience in Retail / Finance.
BS / BA degree in Business or Finance.
Proficient in the use of Excel, Access, Business Objects & MS Office
Strong finance background
Strong project management skills and multi-tasking abilities.
Ability to manage/supervise employees
Proven effectiveness in project management and delivery
Ability to develop relationships throughout the company, including the executive level and external business partners. Must be a team player.
Self starter with a willingness to produce results for the organization
Ability to recognize process efficiency and act on them.
Preferred Requirements:
Experience in Peoplesoft
MBA / CPA
