This market is strategically important to Microsoft for a number of reasons, among them:
the embedded market opportunity is significantly larger than the entire PC market and is growing more rapidly (e.g., from ~348 million devices in 2004 to a projection of 1.4 billion devices in 2009)
Windows CE is well positioned to empower the next generation of devices that are connected to Microsoft assets such as Windows Vista PCs, Servers and Live Services
the "next big thing" will likely be an embedded device, and Windows CE provides the opportunity for Microsoft to take a leading role
The Windows CE Shell and Browser team is looking for an experienced SDET who would be responsible for architecting and implementing robust and flexible automation and new innovative tools for the next generation, modular and customizable shell for a variety of device categories such as set-top boxes, digital video recorders, GPS devices, and other connected devices in the home. As a part of the team you'll also play a key role in the spec and design to ensure that we both the right feature set that has extreme testability as a key attribute.
The position requires:
Excellent C#/ and C/C++ programming skills
Practical experience with at least one or two of these; demonstrated success at dealing with ambiguous problems; and the ability to make solid progress when the solution is not well defined
Proven cross group collaboration skills
A least 5 years of experience in designing, developing and shipping software products during complete product cycle for at least one commercial product
Very good understanding of current and future 2D and 3D display hardware capabilities
Excellent organizational, communication, and motivational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
