Position : Engineer/Technologist-Control Systems

Description :

Business Unit: GE Infrastructure, Aviation Function: Engineering/Technology Location: Evendale, OH Job #: 617318 Posted: May 07, 2008 Responsibilities Responsible for defined work or projects with moderate complexity. Follows an individual work plan and meets day-to-day short-term objectives. Has the ability to resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning. * Execute, with guidance from senior engineering resources, the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define and support assigned components, assemblies or systems that meet business standards and program/product requirements. * Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers. * Document and communicate results of technical data generated. * Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives. * Share information and promote open dialogue. * Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business. * Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures. Qualifications * Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science. Desired * Strong oral and written communication skills * Effective interpersonal skills that enable a learning approach to problem resolution. * Familiarity with design, test and analysis tools and systems. * PC proficiency. * Familiarity / Experience in one or more of the following: * Certification/qualification of mission critical airborne software and systems (e.g. RTCA DO-178B) involving electronic controls, fuel & electrical systems. * Requirements management processes and the DOORS databases tool. * Software change processes and management. * Engine & control modeling, logic validation and test coverage verification analysis. * Data communication protocols such as ARINC 429. * Gas turbine engine performance analysis, interaction of engine and aircraft systems, system failure modes and reliability metrics. * Due to government regulations pertaining to the nature of this work, the employee must be a US citizen or other 'US person' (i.e. permanent resident, temporary resident, refugee, or asylee).
