Position Description
This position is part of the Ground-based Missile Defense (GMD) program, the Weapon System Operations & Sustainment Team. Primary duties involve functioning as the Responsible Engineer for resolving facility power, communication, and electrical issues at Ft. Greely and Eareckson Air Station. This position will perform root cause analysis, determine corrective action, and trace electrical circuits. Provides documentation and detailed technical instructions to facility operations and maintenance staff. Makes recommendations for facility system improvements and developing design modifications packages to resolve complex engineering issues. Develops and implements various maintenance and system or equipment test procedures. Ensures application of best practices and identifies the need for enhanced practices. Assists facilities technicians in answering questions related to electrical systems. Familiarity with facility electrical, power, and communications drawings and maintenance manuals is desired. Some travel expected to address facility issues. Resolves cross-functional technical issues. Works under minimal direction. Both permanent and temporary assignments are available. Permanent assignment relocation plans may include relocation incentives, allowances, and benefits based on eligibility with Delta Junction being the preferred community. On base housing, single and shared, may also be available. Temporary assignments are also available and include a variety of incentives, allowances, and benefits including per diem, periodic company paid travel return to home base trips, and on site housing. Preferred skills: Extensive knowledge of various facility electrical, power, and communication equipment and systems. Ability to analyze complex problems and provide written disposition to correct deficiencies. Skills in problem solving, troubleshooting, fault isolation, and restoration of system functionality and integrity. Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance practices for facilities electrical components. Ability to lead and participate in cross functioning IPT environment to accomplish stated objectives. Capable of using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint). Desired: Experience with Boeing Processes and GMD Nonconformance Tracking System (GNTS).

ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Level 4 - Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry and typically 9 to 13 years experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 7 to 11 years experience or a PhD degree with 4 to 8 years experience in an engineering classification. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
