McGraw-Hill Professional has an outstanding opportunity for an Editor in Chief managing our Finacial Communications (FC) group, based in Boston, MA.
The Editor in Chief spearheads all product development and content acquisition efforts for Financial Communications in order to deliver thought-leading financial education and marketing communications products to financial services and related industries.
Essential accountabilities include :
Manage the Financial Communications staff of editors, writers, product designers, and analysts (the product development team) to create and deliver financial communications products to the financial services industry.
Recruit, develop and lead editorial and product development staff in multiple locations.
Assign, prioritize and manage editorial and product development team workflow.
Institute editorial policies and practices that advance the FC business objectives and ensure that those policies are met.
Oversee the product development team’s efforts to create, source and package the best original and aggregated personal finance and investing content. 
Ensure the highest editorial quality for all client deliverables while adhering to stringent client and marketplace deadlines.
Assess the product portfolio—with feedback from clients, Sales, and the marketplace—to identify and address gaps in the FC product offerings.
Direct all new product planning and development to ensure a portfolio of products that delivers exciting end-user experiences and meets clients’ objectives in a financial marketing context.
Guide development of new products derived from McGraw-Hill’s content assets--including Standard & Poor’s; the McGraw-Hill Professional book group; and BusinessWeek.
Work with executives across The McGraw-Hill Companies; build and maintain strong relationships.
Bring a solid understanding of current financial services industry dynamics and forces driving change in financial marketing to the product development process.
Develop and administer the editorial budget.
Participate in industry conferences (speaking, panels); contribute articles to industry publications as relevant.
Minimum 10 years of management experience leading editorial teams to produce print and online communications in a financial services or financial media context
Minimum five years experience in publishing for digital media
Experience in managing, motivating, and developing a diverse editorial staff
Demonstrated product development success
Thorough understanding of print and digital publishing processes (research, writing and content acquisition, editing, design and production)
Knowledge of the financial communications industry
Familiarity with high-level investing concepts and investment products
Excellent analytic, synthetic, persuasive, and communications skills
Highly developed organizational skills
NASD Series 6 and 7 preferred
