Position Description
The stress analyst will support the development of space related NASA and International Partner structures by applying knowledge of structural analysis (i.e. modeling, stress, fatigue, fracture) and testing to determine structural performance. Will apply knowledge of structural analysis, materials, and related specifications and requirements to ensure structural integrity requirements of engineering design products are met. Support the development test plans and configurations, support test execution and analyze/report test results to validate and verify NASA hardware systems and components. Tasks include model development, detailed stress analysis, design coordination, report preparation, protoflight/qual test support, leading and mentoring engineers and customer coordination. Analyst will establish, develop, and maintain an effective working interface and coordination/exchange of technical information among peer engineering groups, subcontractors and/or the NASA customer. Research, prepare and deliver technical presentations to management, subcontractors and/or the NASA customer. This is a fast paced design environment where collaboration, creativity, communication, and attention to details are paramount. Basic - Extensive, specialized knowledge of structural repair principles (e.g., fatigue and corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, repair techniques). Knowledge of structural repair, overhaul, nondestructive inspection, corrosion control, and composites.
Preferred - Advanced knowledge of engineering analysis (e.g. mechanical, electrical, avionics, design, circuit, systems, stress, structural, durability).

Education and/or Experience
Level 4 - Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry and typically 9 to 13 years experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 7 to 11 years experience or a PhD degree with 4 to 8 years experience in an engineering classification. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Level 5 - Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry and typically 14 to 19 years experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 12 to 17 years experience or a PhD degree with 9 to 14 years experience in an engineering classification. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
