ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This position is for an Intern working in support of the Sun Training Store Web sites. This position includes working in a Web content management system for content publishing as well as working in a command line coding environment for support of the eCommerce system and other supporting applications. The tasks and responsibilities for this position include: 1) Troubleshooting problems/bugs between the various systems that comprise the Training Store applications and functionality, then working to implement or determine a fix, this will include working with several different teams. 2) Support the planning, documentation, coding, and testing of future Content Management and eCommerce releases. 3) Development, support, and maintenance of small to medium size customer supporting applications. 4) Non-technical tasks, projects and content publication as needed to relieve other Sun personnel, when necessary.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Familiarity with Content Management and/or eCommerce is a plus.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: The job skills required for this position are: - Experience working in a UNIX environment - Ability to work in vi and create/update shell scripts. - Knowledge and ability to work with XML, HTML, and Javascript. - Ability to create and update Java programs and JSP pages. - Experience working with Oracle and Java/JSP database interaction.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE: Candidate must be comfortable and proficient working in a UNIX environment and coding using a command line interface. The ability to take minimal direction and develop or update simple applications (i.e. data collection forms) is needed. The ability to research a solution to a coding problem/issue and implement a solution without guidance is a plus.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 1-2
MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION: Current undergraduate student completing a CS degree.
FIELD OF STUDY: CS or equivalent
