Job Description:
Ephraim McDowell Health is an integrated healthcare delivery system that serves more than 146,000 residents from six counties in central Kentucky. At the core of the system is Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center , a 222-bed, not-for-profit hospital that was established 120 years ago. The Ephraim McDowell Health system also includes Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital in neighboring Lincoln County (Stanford).
JOB SUMMARY:
Under moderate direction (direct or phone contact) the licensed physical therapy assistant treats patients, according to the guidelines and goals set forth by the physical therapist.
Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills. Contributes to the achievement of the mission and philosophy of the Organization. Contributes to the effective operations of the Organization by demonstrating dependability in job performance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides patient care treatment programs as identified by evaluating physical therapist with or without immediate supervision.
2. Responsible to inform evaluating therapist of patient's response to treatment program.
3. Assists in the education and training of new hires/technical staff/students (including nursing staff/students).
4. Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and competence.
5. Writes progress notes and treatment notes on each patient.
6. Considers the age of the patients served, applies knowledge
of growth and development and age-specific techniques through
the life span (neonates/infants, pediatrics, adolescents,
adults and geriatrics) in planning and implementing care.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Indoor department, clean and pleasant. Well lighted and
ventilated. 40 hour work week with holiday and weekend rotation.
The task of this job involves exposure to blood, body fluids and
tissue. Considerable stooping, kneeling, pushing and pulling
required. Lifting, carrying and walking also required for
patient treatments. Exposure to physical and mental anguish.
Must be able to lift 25 lbs. independently.
CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:
Frequent contact with ancillary staff, PT's, nursing, doctors.
EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
Computer skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS:
Education: Associates degree from approved PTA school.
Experience: Minimum of 3 months exposure to related field to include successful completion of clinical.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND /OR REGISTRATIONS:
Kentucky license.
