John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) is seeking an Engineer to work closely with the Mexico engine facilities' specification, supply management, assembly, quality, and test departments to insure quality engines are built, tested, and shipped to JDPS partners. In this position, you will:
Manage the development and introduction of solutions to engine coolant and oil leaks.
Work with various suppliers to identify solutions which have high probability of success, optimize the design and then develop and conduct product verification and validation as appropriate with the level of risk.
Prepare engineering change notices adopting change at the factory supporting continuous improvement team activities.
Participate in weekly quality meetings with partners during which dealer technical assistance issues and warranty data are reviewed.
Work as the primary and/or secondary investigator on nonconformance issues and corrective actions as assigned by supervisor.
Travel to the Mexico engine facility approximately every other month and also several times per year to suppliers, dealers, and/or customers.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering or in Manufacturing Technology with Diesel Engine Design or Development experience, or equivalent experience.
Required Skills and Experience
Engine design, development, and/or manufacturing experience.
Pro/ENGINEER or other 3D solid modeling software proficiency.
Demonstrated root cause analysis of failed parts from customers.
Product design experience including casting design or a desire and aptitude to learn casting design.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Ability to work as part of multinational/multicultural teams.
Desired Skills and Experience
Sealing and gasket design experience (liquid silicon sealing a plus).
Experience working with a global supplier and customer base.
PDMLink and SAP working knowledge.
Strong desire to make continuous product or process improvements.
Product/process nonconformance and corrective action experience.
