Position Description
This position is part of the Ground-based Missile Defense (GMD) program, the Weapon System Operations & Sustainment Team. The focus of this position is to ensure effective introduction, operation, and support of the upgraded products and services provided by the GMD development teams. This position requires knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines and interfaces. This position will coordinate the Ground Systems product IPT with focus on the Launch Support Equipment (LSE) software and hardware. The position is also responsible for initiating cost-reduction initiatives and maintenance concept improvements and integrating them with the logistics, maintenance, and operations teams to provide a leaner and more supportable system. This position will focus on developing repair dispositions for failed or non-conforming components and subsystems. This position will be responsible for providing engineering expertise to the fielded system by developing fault trees, repair steps, and operational impact assessments for the System. The team will also support the troubleshooting of the failure with the product developer and support the analysis and eventual resolution to engineering problems. The position will also support the identification of cost-reduction initiatives, maintenance concept improvements, and integrating them with the logistics, maintenance, and operations teams. Develop and maintain relationships with customers, peers, suppliers, and use meaningful metrics to identify areas for improvement. Prefer demonstrated skills in control systems, power systems, and power supplies. Resolves cross-functional technical issues. Works under minimal direction. Some travel expected. Both permanent and temporary assignments are available. Permanent assignment relocation plans may include relocation incentives, allowances, and benefits based on eligibility with Delta Junction being the preferred community. On base housing, single and shared, may also be available. Temporary assignments are also available and include a variety of incentives, allowances, and benefits including per diem, periodic company paid travel return to home base trips, and on site housing.

Level 4 - Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry and typically 9 to 13 years experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 7 to 11 years experience or a PhD degree with 4 to 8 years experience in an engineering classification. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
