McGraw-Hill Professional has an immediate opening for aSenior Editor , based inNew York City or Chicago (Burr Ridge, IL) office . The Senior Editor will provide strategic direction for publishing programs in physical therapy, occupational therapy, radiologic technology, nursing and other fields acquiring new and revised titles annually. Additionally, the Senior Editor will ensure that all acquired titles are produced in keeping with the established strategy.
Essential Accountabilities include:
Develop and consider proposals for new and revised titles in the allied health specialties, having these proposals reviewed, market researched, and presented to the internal editorial board for approval. Ensure that projects meet financial hurdles. Successfully negotiate 15-20 contracts per year with authors
Publish 15-20 titles for the professional and student market per year, meeting budgeted publication dates
Develop a product plan and strategic direction for the allied health program
Transmit approximately 20 titles per year
Participate in developing publishing strategy in collaboration with the entire Medical group
Additional Accountabilities include:
Plan and execute digital publishing components for all major publishing projects in specialties managed, particularly in the area of physical therapy.
Work with colleagues in the medical group to build successful digital aggregate products for sale to the institutional market.
Effectively represent the company to outside authors and contributors
Keep abreast of market conditions, trends, and needs, through interaction with allied health professionals, travel to appropriate conferences, and interaction with sales reps and marketing staff
3-5 years acquisitions experience in medical, college life science, allied health or nursing preferred
Familiarity with medical or health markets with ability to develop market leading proposals and projects
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Bachelor's degree
