As Lead Software Engineer in the OHV Engineering organization, the successful candidate will contribute to GE's commitment to innovation by developing state-of-the-art software, firmware and algorithms for the propulsion control system of the mining haul truck. Specifically:

- Design, implement and test software, ensuring quality specifications are met.

- Responsible for software development & maintenance of components, systems and their networks.

- Responsible for developing & documenting control function requirements.

- Program (in C, C++, Java, etc.) all applications, components & interfaces. Responsible for implementation & testing of control systems using block diagramming tools such as MatrixX or Matlab.

- Work closely w/ the business unit to ensure application development meets product specification requirements.

- Work closely w/ other engineering teams, partners & vendors to ensure inter-operability & reuse.

- Provide technical mentoring for more junior software engineers.

- Responsible for working w/ cross-functional development team, interacting w/ software, hardware, system & control engineers.

- Participate actively in design & code reviews.

- Drive performance & reliability enhancements.

- Close interaction w/ customers to drive requirements & customer satisfaction. Position requires frequent interfacing w/ organizations including Engine OEM, Truck OEM, Software Engineering, COE's (Center of Excellence), Field Service & Customers. Responsible for collecting and prioritizing customer requirements from truck OEM & end users to design & code.

-Responsible for conducting Formal Verification & Validation of designs in Lab, Haul Truck, & Field Environments.

-Develop practical and innovative ways to identify and meet goals. Responsible for work that is less defined in scope and has the understanding and experience to execute business objectives. This role has the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.

- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in embedded real time software, programming or control system development and code-writing in a variety of programming languages.

Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Desired

- Advanced technical degree.

-Experience with QNX or other Real Time Operating System.

-Experience with Matlab, Matrix X, and code generation tools.

-Experience with C and JAVA programming languages.

-Experience with electrical propulsion system controls: power electronics, AC/DC motors, and alternators.

-Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio.

-Experience with embedded control system development.

- Strong oral and written communication skills.

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
