Help ensure competitiveness, production and customer loyalty for the Plan by guiding and improving our Rating and Underwriting services. Focusing on new and renewal accounts in the midsize (51-499) market, you will develop initial/renewal rates, present rates to groups, and complete group settlements and ERISA forms. In addition, you will be responsible for tracking new business and retention results on a monthly basis, analyzing transfer business proposals, effectively managing and motivating a staff of eight, accompanying Sales on account visits, recommending policy changes, presenting classes on Underwriting policy, and conducting studies/analyses, such as the review of rating formulas/factors/procedures.
To qualify, you must have a bachelor’s degree, supported by five to ten years of experience in insurance—including at least one focused on technical, contractual and/or analytical writing. A supervisory background is desired while strong knowledge of the following is mandatory: underwriting theory and principles, health insurance benefits offerings, rating formula and application. A valid driver’s license and solid oral/written communication, analytical and computer skills are also required.
