Responsible for developing the Balance of Plant/Extended scope estimates for Thermal Power Plant bids. The estimators role is essential to assuring the profitability of future extended scope projects with estimates ranging from $20mm to greater than $500mm based on project scope (equipment, construction, services). Essential functions include:
- Interpret drawings, specifications, and scope documents for thorough preparation of estimates.
- Work with a cross-functional team to develop, review, and sign-off on BOP cost estimates.
- Develop conceptual estimates and comparative reports to determine the competitiveness of Partner/Sub-contractor bids.
- Compare and contrast material quantities, unit rates, and methodology against historical data to inform management of potential risks inherent in each proposal.
- Complete variance analysis on actual vs. budgeted amounts for BOP/extended scope.
- Special focus on Centerline Erection projects for Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, & Generator Products.

Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering Discipline &/or Construction Management.
- A minimum of 7 years experience preparing project cost estimates in the power industry and or large construction projects.
- Green Belt certification (GE employees only).
Desired
- Field experience in power industry (Combined Cycle, Simple Cycle, Centerline).
- Experience bidding and executing Gas Turbine & Steam Turbine-Generator Centerline Erection projects.
- Experience with GE Gas Turbine & Steam Turbine Product Lines.
- Expert in process and techniques used for parametric cost estimating & variance analyses.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, facilitation and influencing skills.
