Posted: Jun 03, 2008 Responsibilities

* Executes the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.

* Design printed circuit electronics assemblies for control equipment on locomotive, off-highway vehicle, marine, and stationary systems using electrical engineering development.

* Responsible for schematics for electronics board development which includes design for testability and design for manufacturability.

* Develop concepts and detailed designs (including analysis, modeling, component selection and qualification, schematic design, and layout) as well as prototyping, integrating into functional panels, and qualifying reliability growth testing. Developments include New Product Introduction, requisitions, product field reliability, increased performance, and reduced cost.

* Follow standard design and review process and apply applicable standards and design guides.

* Provides technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project.

* Documents technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

* Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues.

* Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.

* Perform electrical failure isolation and analysis on field returns and customer reported issues.

* Incorporate design for manufacturability, and design for testability techniques in new designs.

* Drive the standardization of design tools, such as Mentor Graphics Expedition, across all Electronics Design Groups.

* Integrate design with control electronics development and hardware/software engineering, sourcing, suppliers, and quality engineering.

* Monitor component productivity, reliability and cost. Support applications, proposals, integration engineering, drafting and manufacturing.
Qualifications

* Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.

* At least 3+ additional years of experience in an engineering position specifically working with electronics design using microprocessors, peripherals and communications networks.

Desired

* MS degree in Electrical Engineering.

* Minimum 5+ years experience in electronics development with emphasis on high speed digital design, design for testability and manufacturability techniques.

* Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems.

* Experience with Mentor Graphics Expedition Design platform.

* Six Sigma Greenbelt certified.

* Strong oral and written communication skills.

* Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

* PC proficiency.

* Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
