This is an excellent opportunity to come work in a fun and relaxed environment with a group of equally smart and driven people where you will have the opportunity to make a difference and contribute to the development of some cutting edge software systems.
If you are the right person for the job, you will...
• Thrive on and seek out challenging tasks
• Really hate wearing ties
• Like learning new things
• Have a few years of Ruby on Rails development experience, and think it’s pretty sweet, including all the parts about writing unit/functional/integration/etc. tests for your code (and at least grudgingly, in private, admit that you think that’s pretty sweet too).
• Know your way around a relational database and speak enough SQL to be able to construct relatively complex queries and optimize and debug them where necessary (bonus points for PostgreSQL)
• Have a good bit of Javascript knowledge and experience (even if you really don’t like it), including:
• Asynchronous communication and callbacks (you can call it AJAX if you want)
• JSON
• Know at least enough CSS to be dangerous, but more importantly, when and how to use it properly in a larger scale application
And you’ll get bonus points for...
• Knowing what HAML or SASS are, especially if you’ve used them in a Rails project before
• Have a keen eye and knack for web application interface design and implementation, including knowing your way around Photoshop or similar tools enough to crank out a few placeholder buttons or other graphical assets that look half decent in a pinch
• Being familiar with RSpec, test/spec, shoulda, or similar testing frameworks
If that sounds like you, we’d like to hear from you! Please send your résumé and your answer to the following question to careers@spatialnetworks.com:
"Who do you think would win in a one-on-one fight, a 17th century Caribbean pirate, or a ninja (from any era) and why?"
