The Control Designer of Alliances is responsible for supporting Project and Protection Engineers and producing timely and accurate drawing packages for complex protection and control projects and proposals including single line and three line diagrams, DC and AC schematic diagrams, electrical interconnect drawings, panel plan and elevation drawings, cable schedules, structural / electrical details, and a detailed bill of material. All work must be done to applicable CAD and engineering standards.
Qualifications

*Associate's Degree in Drafting and Design Technology.

*Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing electrical schematics and relay panel wiring diagrams and creating detailed bills of material.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

*Ability and willingness to travel (15%) to support design projects including out of town meetings and site visits.

Desired

*Experience in Micro station (or AutoCAD) producing electrical schematics and wiring diagrams strongly preferred.

*Ability to complete complex drawing packages with minimal / no supervision from sketches provided by others.

*Strong knowledge of desktop computers and Microsoft Office products.

*Ability to develop wiring diagrams from schematics.

*Working knowledge of NEC requirements.

*Familiarity with web-based design collaboration sites and drawing management systems.

*Great communicator who can effectively interface with a multi-discipline engineering team as well as project managers.

*Detail orientated with good organizational and time management skills. Continually strives for a professional product.

*Customer service orientated with experience following quality assurance processes while working in a projects schedule-driven environment.

*Quick learner able to adapt to various customer standards.

*Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.

*Field installation and construction experience.

*Proficient with both AutoCAD and Micro station.

*Ability to develop schematics from one and three line diagrams.

*Minimum of 7 years of experience as an electrical control designer for a utility or engineering firm.

*Experience with SCADA and RTU system design including GE products.

*Familiarity with SEL and GE protective relays.

*Experience with utility protection and control design standards.

*Understanding of design drafting practices and engineering systems utilized in the power industry.

*Design experience should include, but not be limited to civil foundations, steel detailing, and electrical applications.
