Do you want to work on the next Halo, Gears of War, or Fable?
Are you a master of a specific area in game development - able to hold your own among the top graphics, AI, or physics programmers in the industry - or are you a jack-of-all-trades, who is intimately familiar with the wide range of challenges involved in game software programming and able to jump in effectively in almost any area? The Emerging Properties team at Microsoft Games Studios is looking for experienced lead programmers.
MGS has a long history in rendering critical support to companies like Bungie (Halo), Epic (Gears of War), BioWare (Mass Effect), Bizarre Creations (PGR series) and many others with their blockbuster titles. The Emerging Properties team's mission is to identify the latest and greatest new Xbox 360 games that will turn into the next blockbusters and to support our development partners to reach their full potential.
Engineers in our team work closely with the external core development teams, helping them move from project planning and pre-production, through production, and final performance tuning and preparation for ship. Programmers in this role perform all kinds of engineering work from consultancy to feature implementation, from hard-core debugging to performance tuning.
The position requires 5+ years of games development experience, including shipping at least one major title. Experience with C/C++ is assumed, exposure to console development preferred. Ideal candidates are familiar with common gaming middleware, know the ins and outs of the game development process, and are on top of current industry trends. A BS or MS in computer science or equivalent work experience is required. The position involves working with several games at once and involves both high-level communication and a passion for writing great software. Ideal candidates are highly motivated individuals who love to code, possess strong communication skills, and have a passion for games.
Some travel, both foreign and domestic, is required.
