Job Description:
The Web and MSAR Content Specialist will be responsible for p lanning and implementation for MSAR (Medical School Admission Requirements), a book published yearly which is the #1 source of information for medical school applicants. Planning duties include developing, creating, and managing, with IT, Communications, and other staff, software for the electronic collection and management of data from 129 US and 17 Canadian medical schools, as well as 40+ college/MD programs, including pre-population of data from AAMC databases in multiple AAMC divisions. Implementation duties include utilizing purpose-built software to collect, edit, verify, and publish school-specific data, graphics and narrative content for 350 pages of MSAR, plus directing the annual revision of 60 pages of general information text in multiple chapters from multiple authors. The Content Specialist also serves as a resource for staff in maintaining, updating, and revising information on various Web sites.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; professional certification in writing/editing a plus. Successful candidates should have t wo years of administrative experience in print and electronic publications, Web design and maintenance, and project management, preferably in an association or educational setting. Ability to compose and edit written documents of both a technical and general information nature; ability to edit the work of others; knowledge of graphic design; knowledge of computer programming a plus; ability to conceptualize, organize, design, and manage multiple projects simultaneously, often with competing deadlines; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to think critically; attention to detail; ability to work with quantitative data; Web design and editing skills; customer service and help desk skills; ability to work collaboratively and collegially, both with association staff and constituents.
