GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Completes inmate classification actions, parole summaries, Adult Community Center (ACC) packets and progress reports for inmates assigned to caseload; participates in inmate disciplinary hearing committees; establishes rules, policies, procedures and expectations for inmates assigned to a housing unit; meets with assigned inmates on a regular basis to review goals and assists in formation of parole and work release plans; assists in completion of cell and block inspections; responds to informal inmate grievances and interview requests submitted by inmates; participates in unit staff meetings, classification and disciplinary hearings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develops and enforces rules, procedures and expectations for inmates residing in a housing unit; evaluates inmate performance and provides written and verbal correction/guidance to assist in meeting expectations within the unit; assists in inspection of living areas within unit, ensuring cleanliness and maintenance; notes safety hazards and/or security breeches; responds to interview requests from inmates assigned to unit; reviews and makes modifications to housing assignments, as needed; maintains an inmate caseload; prepares and submits inmate classification actions, parole summaries, ACC packets and participates in pre-parole committee actions; prepares and submits special reports to other agencies, judicial or legal venues and correctional jurisdictions, including notification, review and time-line compliance for sentence reduction reports, progress reports on interstate transferee, furlough packets, Intensive Supervision Program referral packets and Intensive Treatment Unit referral packets; collects, records and disseminates information regarding assigned caseload, including referral to contract mental health staff and conveyance of critical information to security and administrative staff; works closely with other unit management team members; engages in meaningful interaction with inmates.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, sociology, psychology, criminal justice or administration of justice or closely related field.
