Motherboard Integration Engineer
This position is for an Electrical Engineer to be part of the Xbox 360 console development team. The team is responsible for aggressive cost reduction of the console throughout the life of the product as well as expanding the market for the console in derivative products. The position involves working closely with a cross functional team of electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, test engineers, CAD engineers, component engineers, manufacturing engineers, technologists, and program managers in multiple locations.
You will be part of a team of electrical engineers who are responsible for specifying, designing (creating/maintaining the component symbol and footprint libraries, schematic capture (Cadence Concept), component placement, setting up design constraints, routing and post process of complex, high speed, multilayer printed circuit boards (Cadence Allegro), analog/digital circuit design, BOM, cost analysis), implementing and verifying motherboard and component technology vehicles with considerations for design for manufacturability, test, assembly, EMC and EMI. This includes development of requirements by working with team members evaluating different solution options for functionality, cost and risk, developing the solution, implementing it, verifying it and supporting it in use.
This requires a strong team player who is has strong communication skills, has the ability to learn quickly, analyze and implement new interfaces and subsystems, break down complex issues and collaborate across cross functional teams to resolve issues in a timely manner and is able to clearly express ideas in verbal and written forms. Must be able to plan work, and work to a plan adapting as necessary in a rapidly evolving environment.
Qualifications:
Minimum BS/MS in Electrical Engineering.
A solid understanding of core engineering principles, circuit design and analysis is required.
Seven years of experiencing capturing schematics, designing and implementing PCBs and shipping products of medium to high complexity.
Prior design and implementation of PC motherboards, analog/digital circuit design, test vehicles, high speed busses (PCIe, SATA, USB, DDR2, GDDR3, HyperTransport, etc.) are required
Design for manufacturing and test by adhering to relevant internal DFM/DFT guidelines, IPC and/or ANSI standards are required
Strong communication skills and must be able to clearly express technical concepts in verbal and written forms.
Enthusiastic, motivated and self driven
Working knowledge of complete design flow process using the following tools: Cadence Concept, Allegro, Constraint Manager, Valor Enterprise 3000 are highly desired.
Knowledge of high volume consumer electronics design and manufacturing is desired.
Experience in development, integration, maintenance of CAD tools, custom tool scripts and tool upgrades is a plus
Design for assembly is a plus
Strong bench evaluation and in-lab debugging skills are a plus.
Domestic and international travel may be required.
