GENERAL SUMMARY
Under general supervision, the Purchasing Supervisor II oversees the daily operations of the designated purchasing area. Responsible for coordinating the sourcing of new parts in order to meet program timing and cost targets in support of company goals and objectives. Additionally, the position is responsible for various other materials/purchasing operations, organization and direction of subordinate groups performing purchasing functions, monitoring the progress of plans and objectives for buyers in order to meet overall corporate goals. Also manages area work responsibilities while maintaining productivity and departmental budgets. Along with the managerial duties, primary responsibility for representing the company in capitol equipment and tooling purchases.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Supports project team activities (i.e. meetings, information requests, follow-up) in order to successfully meet New Product Launch goals/objectives.
2. Develops the Statement of Requirements and obtains competitive quotes for new components to support the New Product Launch assigned components for analysis and determination of technical targets for new components. Organizes quotes, technical target, cost reduction schedules and preliminary sourcing plan for review with the commodity buyer and purchasing management to support New Product Launch.
3. Initiates meetings with commodity buyer and purchasing management as needed to discuss and/or determine purchasing strategy for new components for New Product Launch and to provide updates on same components.
4.Submits requisitions, issues blanket and tooling purchase orders and develops MAP for new components to support New Product Launch activities. Updates purchase orders as needed based on design changes and PPAP approvals.
5. Oversee the AQP process for all new purchased components. Monitors individual components tool schedules in order to meet program timing for off-tool requirements. Provides updates to NPL, SQA or PD as requested.
6. Prepares and controlsdocuments for internal purchasing management review of actual versus target costs (individual components and total program) to determine if cost objectives are being attained.
7. Prepares and presents CIPPs (purchasing program summary forms) documents for Program Reviews so Executive Management can evaluate actual material cost in relation to profit/loss margin.Provides Cost Management Dept. (CMD) with cost information as required to support preparation of financial reports.
8. Recommends source plan for purchased components to support pre-launch activities. Processes prototype orders as needed for pre-launch activities. Tracks components to support pre-launch activities.
9. Performs any special assignment work by purchasing management to help improve cost status of commodities or individual components (mature parts), to outsource complete assemblies (i.e. manufacturing deems that production in-house is not feasible or not profitable) or to support any short-term project as needed.
10. Oversees daily operation of Non-Production Purchasing activities.
11.Provide RFQ packages to potential equipment/tooling suppliers, negotiate pricing for capitol equipment/tooling purchases and assess/evaluate new and potential equipment/tooling suppliers.
12. Issues purchase order contracts to suppliers with winning bid packages and emergency purchase orders for goods/services in critical situations.
13. Negotiates Labor contracts for services to be provided to the company by outside source.
14. Coordinate and pursue company cost reduction activities and goals in assigned areas.
Requirements:
Bachelor\s degree with 5+ years of purchasing experience .
Supervisory experience required .
Qualified candidates must have excellent communication,cost analysis, and Microsoft Excel skills .
Goodnegotiation skills also required . Some Access experience preferred.
Previous experience in the automotive manufacturing industry
Previous experience sourcing from Low Cost Countries
