Explanation Statement
John Deere Agricultural Equipment in Waterloo, Iowa, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to work with the design community on reclaiming and making Tooling, Gages, and Fixturing. In this position you will:
Perform planning and estimating of costs.
Schedule, quote, write req's, track cost, and expedite the delivery of purchased Tooling, Gages, and Fixtures.
Process supplier non-conformance and expedite corrective actions.
Complete work orders and resolve and eliminate shipping and receiving problems to ensure prompt and accurate payment to suppliers.
Train new Manufacturing Engineers on creating work orders, supporting the Engineering Change Management (ECM) process.
Drive continuous improvement in terms of performance using Achieving Excellence process criteria.
Participate on project teams to leverage knowledge and experience while improving factory performance in safety, quality, cost and delivery.
Specify tools and methods appropriate for documentation ordering, tracking, receiving and delivery of Tooling, Gages, and Fixturing, and communicate that information to the Manufacturing Engineering department.
Check work order reports.
Review manufacturing engineering in-baskets and conduct in-basket training for new employees.
Be the contact for the Spec department when changing routing points.
Be a resource for questions on routings and work centers.
Create Bill of lading, Pick List, Packing Slip and Case tag by entering information into database.
Cover absence for the Tool, Gage, and Design Supervisor.
Education
Degree in Business, Engineering/Technology, or Agriculture or equivalent experience.
Required Skills and Experiences
Ability to learn, understand and utilize the SAP system for specifications and decision release systems, coordinate spec routings for DTO (Drive Train Operations).
Ability to work as a team player in a diverse group.
Ability to manage multiple assignments.
Good PC skills (Proficient in MS Excel, Word).
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to learn and process SAP work orders for tools, gages and fixtures for Manufacturing.
Knowledge of Manufacturing engineering practices, systems, and tools.
Knowledge of Product Delivery Process programs.
Strong communication skills.
Desired Skills and Experiences
Understanding of John Deere specification and decision processes and procedures.
Experience using SAP and AG-PDM (Production Drawing Management).
Manufacturing experience (1 to 2 years).
Knowledge of SAP transactions AGM6, IW39, IW31, IW32, IW33, VLO2N, VTO1N, VTO2N, etc.
