John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) is seeking a Manager for Engine Controls Hardware to manage the design and development of electronic engine control module hardware for Product Development Process (PDP) programs. In this position, you will:
Develop electronics hardware component specifications.
Support supplier selection.
Provide design direction for circuit and packaging design activities.
Lead development and Product Verification and Validation (PV&V) for electronic engine components.
Ensure electronic component cost targets are met.
Ensure prototype deliverables are met.
Support factories in the successful production launch of engine control modules.
Identify and execute Value Improvement (VI) opportunities.
Manage the design and development of wiring harnesses and connection systems for engine PDP programs.
Provide scope and direction for the engine harness design activities.
Ensure adequate harness routing technical support is available for John Deere vehicle applications.
Ensure scheduled deliverables for engine development programs are met. Lead the implementation and qualification of electronic components used in engine subsystems (e.g., actuator and speed sensor for variable geometry turbochargers).
Have responsibility for leading the selection and release of sensors and actuators.
Ensure components are suitable for use in engine application through appropriate specification, component evaluation, and PV&V testing.
Manage product improvement and redesign activities related to electromechanical components.
Identify and investigate new component technologies.
Manage JDPS hardware activities related to continuous improvement (product warranty and current product support).
Ensure current production issues are identified and resolved.
Improve product performance and reliability.
Identify and execute cost reduction opportunities.
Provide support for Deere Supply Management and Quality departments to ensure supplier quality is maintained.
Have general administrative responsibilities for the JDPS electronics hardware group: Project management, budgeting, staffing, performance management, reporting, etc.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
Required Skills and Experience
5 or more years of experience in electronics design.
5 or more years of experience with engine or vehicle electronic systems.
Project management experience.
Excellent communications skills.
Product development experience.
Desired Skills and Experience
Off-road embedded control system hardware design experience.
Electronics manufacturing experience.
Wiring harness design experience.
Experience with specifying and qualifying sensors and actuators.
