Position Description
Performs Information Assurance (IA) related duties on Ground-based Mid-Course Defense (GMD) mission, test, and administrative computing systems and networks. Individual shall be required to conduct IA risk assessments, assess and recommend cost-effective risk-mitigating IA countermeasures, analyze proposed network configurations for security vulnerabilities inclusive of LAN, WAN, and Carrier Backbone systems, assess potential risks associated with externally connected systems, recommend policy and procedural mitigations for identified risks and coordinate security interim approval to operate recommendations with Govt customer and Certification/Designated Approval Authorities following the Govts DOD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Program (DIACAP) and National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) processes. Will be required to present IA requirements, design, and implementations at working groups and other technical forums. Other duties as directed. Some travel required to GMD operational sites and contractor locations.

ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Level 5 - Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry and typically 14 to 19 years experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 12 to 17 years experience or a PhD degree with 9 to 14 years experience in an engineering classification. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Applicants selected must have a current FINAL SECRET clearance - will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for accessing classified information. **Please indicate your current Security Clearance status and last date of review clearly on your resume.** Previous Information Assurance (IA) related work experience and knowledge of security requirements for Automated Information Systems. Related work experience with DoD 5200.40, DoD Information Technology Security Certification and Accreditation Process (DITSCAP) or DoD 5200.22-M, National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM). Demonstrated success working in a distributed team environment with multiple organizations and contractors. Preferred: CISSP, GSEC, CCNE, or CCIE. Demonstrated IA experience on major DoD weapons systems, and familiarity with Unix, AIX, Sun Solaris and Windows. Top Secret security clearance is a plus. Prefer degree in CS, CIS, SE or CE.
