Position:
Product Evaluator
|
Job Description:
Evaluates samples for quality of construction, functionality, safety and adherence to HSN’s standards and applicable regulatory requirements and makes appropriate recommendations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Evaluates samples for quality of construction, functionality, safety and adherence to HSN’s standards and applicable regulatory requirements and communicates appropriate recommendations in a timely and professional manner. Understands, interprets and applies technical documentation, industry and government requirements in the evaluation of products. Understands and applies HSN Quality standards in an unbiased and professional manner
Substantiates validity of product‘s claimed features and benefits.
Creates inspection plans for HSN product and communicates them to vendor partners prior to start of production.
Provides guidance and direction in the proper boxing / packaging of HSN product.
Effectively and proactively partners with buyers, vendors and others at all levels in order to ensure understanding of QA requirements, evaluation reports, and resolution of issues. Works to create a supportive partnership which consistently improves vendors’ ability to produce high quality goods and services.
Ensures accurate and detailed documentation of QA evaluation reports and dispositions product status in a timely manner.
Works closely with the on-site manager in the coordination of on-site inspections and Fulfillment Quality Assurance to ensure calibration of product quality expectations. Coordinates and provides direction on issues related to quality stoppages.
Evaluates and assesses issues reported via HSN customer feedback tools (e.g., CN's, bulletin boards, etc) and actively drives continuous improvement efforts including Corrective / Preventive Action Requests and follow up.
Actively and enthusiastically supports company, department and teammates’ goals and objectives. Demonstrates teamwork and cooperation in all tasks and duties.
Analyzes data and makes logical and unbiased business decisions in support of the QA objectives.
Demonstrates and applies technical competency in HSN Quality systems. Assists vendor partners in uploading complete and accurate technical specifications including all required testing to HSN systems.
Actively pursues self improvement activities and works together with management to grow both professionally and personally.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of experience and training.
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and the Internet.
Effectively and professionally communicate oral and written information, using tact and diplomacy as appropriate.
Ability to prioritize and work with limited supervision in order to meet deadlines and achieve desired results.
Ability to perform detailed work, analyze data make logical and unbiased business decisions in a professional manner, including necessary follow through.
Ability to deal effectively with buyers, vendors and others at all levels, in a high visibility area of the company.
Able to travel domestically; potential for overseas travel.
Working knowledge in FTC, CPSC and/or other governmental regulations.
Ability to understand and interpret technical documentation (such as MSDS, product testing reports).
Preferred requirements
Knowledge of Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher preferred.
Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA) through American Society for Quality (ASQ) is desired.
QA/QC Experience in electronics, housewares, cookware, small appliances or textiles is desired.
Professional certification(s) in area of Quality Management and area of discipline is strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to use optical equipment to distinguish color and surface finish defects. (Jewelry)
Must be able to use computer for extended periods of time.
Must be able to travel occasionally.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs
