This position supports HSN’s Broadcast TV and www.hsn.com by composing informative, concise, error-free product descriptions. Our writers have a creative writing style that mixes editorial efficiency with a flair for inspiring and motivating customer action
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Ability to create and compose well written, direct-marketed product copy to support the sales of a wide variety of items. Writer obtains specific product details and benefits by reviewing the physical product sample and vendor literature.
Determine/create unique selling angles for all products.
Information must follow a standardized, approved format and include consistent terminology to explain the product category.
Supplement the product information with interesting factual research obtained by writer via company macros, books, magazines and approved Internet sources.
Incorporate and enhance buyer’s information.
Serve as the product category expert for your area, attending in-house seminars, meetings and researching information.
Work with Merchants, Content Coordinators, Outside Partners, QA and Legal to obtain all available product/topic information.
Understand and comply with HSN's FTC compliance program.
Write/edit on-air graphic top line descriptions.
Maintain required writing logs, and collect and report various statistics as requested.
Meet daily production goals and deadlines as set by the department.
Strong proofreading and fact checking skills. 100% Accuracy and attention to detail a must.
Maintain a positive, team outlook.
Strong self-motivation and multitasking required, as writers manage their workload in order to meet daily deadlines
Minimum Requirements:
A 4-year college degree or equivalent in writing or journalism.
1-3 years professional writing experience in the areas of copywriting for print and online.
Strong writing/English skills and have the ability to work with various department groups.
Proficiency with MS Word, MS excel and other copy editing or authoring tools.
Self-starter with positive attitude and attention to detail.
Preferred Requirements:
Retail sales writing a plus.
