The primary concentration will be R&M support for the Waste Hygiene Compartment (WHC), Regenerative-Environmental Control and Life Support System (Regen ECLSS), Node 3 Relocation, Total Organic Carbon Analyzer (TOCA), and the Water Recovery Management (WRM) System for Potable Water Quality Monitoring. The selected candidate will apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify lifecycle balanced system of systems solutions. Evaluate customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Prepare reliability and maintainability plans, provide Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) data, and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) data. The R&M engineer will apply knowledge of Boeing Reliability & Maintainability techniques, theories, applicable Boeing/industry/government standards, processes and polices to ensure that the ISS systems will perform their intended functions within acceptable limits. The selected candidate should have a good working knowledge of failure modes, effects, and criticality analysis, including system, sub-system, functional (electrical/mechanical), and component level. Knowledge of Integrated Product Definition and System Engineering practices (e.g., source selection, risk management, trade studies, affordability, corrective actions), including specific reliability and maintainability (R&M) responsibilities is required. Knowledge of database reduction, data mapping, and data mining is desired. Knowledge of reliability & maintainability modeling techniques and theory is desired. The ability to adjust priorities to multiple demands and unanticipated events as well as adjust decisions and actions to new information is required. The ability to be flexible in response to changing circumstances or conditions, be receptive to feedback and coaching, and be resilient after failures or disappointments is required. The selected candidate should have the ability to attend to and verify the accuracy and completeness of detailed information. This also includes the ability to identify missing or inconsistent information or data. Listens effectively; demonstrate understanding; clarify meaning for others; speak with clarity and precision; able to communicate with a diverse audience; write clearly and concisely. The ability and willingness to take independent action is expected. This includes moving quickly and directly to complete the task at hand and not waiting to be instructed to complete job activities. Also includes the willingness to seek out additional assignments or tasks and possess the skills to lead and manage RAM&T activities. Works under general direction and leads/assigns work to other engineers. Candidate must have significant experience with the ISS program including extensive knowledge and applied experience in addressing NASA R&M requirements.

[ + ] Communication
Consistently and proactively clarifies purpose and importance; stresses major points; follows a logical sequence. Guiders others in keeping their audience thoroughly engaged through use of techniques such as analogies, illustrations, humor, an appealing style, body language, and voice inflection. Frames highly complex and or advanced information in line with audience experience, background, and expectations; uses terms, examples, and analogies that are meaningful to the audience. Regularly seeks input from audience; checks understanding; presents message in different ways to enhance understanding. Uses syntax, pace, volume, diction, and mechanics appropriate to the media being used. Attends to both direct and indirect messages from others; correctly interprets messages and responds appropriately. Mentors and advises fellow project leads and other internal employees on effective communication techniques.
[ + ] Customer Focus
Provides enterprise level modeling for making customers and their needs a primary focus of one's actions; develops and sustains productive, high-level customer relationships as they relate to complex and large scale projects; actively seeks information to understand customers' circumstances, problems, expectations, and needs; presents project level information to senior level customers to build their understanding of issues and capabilities; considers how complex project level decisions/actions/plans will affect customers; responds quickly to meet significant customer needs and resolve complex problems; provides enterprise level thought leadership on monitoring and evaluating customer concerns, issues, and satisfaction and to anticipate customer needs.
[ + ] Decision Making
Consistently and proactively recognizes a wide range of highly advanced or unusually complex issues, problems, or opportunities across the organization; determines whether action is needed. Adeptly identifies the need for and collects information to better understand issues, problems, and opportunities; has advanced knowledge in integrating unusually complex information from a variety of sources; detects unusually complex trends, associations, and cause-effect relationships. Guides others in creating relevant options for addressing problems/opportunities and achieving desired outcomes; can be relied upon to formulate clear decision criteria; evaluates options by considering implications and consequences; chooses an effective option; implements decisions reliably and initiates action within a reasonable time; includes team leaders, managers and internal employees in the decision-making process as warranted to obtain good information, make the most appropriate decisions, and ensure buy-in and understanding of the resulting decisions.
