Position:
HVAC Technician
|
Job Description:
Basic Purpose and Objective:
This position requires a competent, energetic, committed individual who will be involved in the installation, maintenance and trouble-shooting of industrial HVAC (boilers, chillers) equipment in a 185,000 square foot research facility.
Job Responsibilities:
Perform routine and prioritized maintenance and repair of plant equipment in allocated areas of responsibility.
Provide ideas on maintenance/design aspects of plant for major construction/renovation projects.
Provide plumbing/electrical expertise to assist Facilities Technicians in specific maintenance tasks.
Respond to unscheduled and emergency service requests.
Keep GL informed about progress and problems on a daily basis or as needed.
Monitor stock of key emergency spares applicable to areas of responsibility.
Maintain accurate and up to date plant records.
Maintain GLP data according to the GLP guidelines.
Act as back-up to security, as needed.
Perform any other duties as required or assigned.
Other Requirements:
Ability to communicate and interact effectively with various levels of staff
Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions in English, e.g., MSDS directions, chemical product labels, equipment manuals, work orders, etc.
Ability to lift and move heavy objects regularly (Minimum 60 lbs.)
Ability to climb steps and ladders
Ability to work on roof tops and other high areas on a regular basis.
Ability to work with required safety and personal protective equipment.
Ability to work a flexible work week, with overtime as required.
Ability to respond to emergency calls after working hours.
Must possess and maintain a valid Automobile Drivers License in your state of principal residence
All work is to be performed in strict accordance with accepted trade practices, code requirements and all safety and good housekeeping requirement.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Technical training in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical; Black Seal and/or EPA Universal License required along with minimum 5 years HVAC experience; basic computer skills.
