John Deere Harvester-East Moline is seeking a Staff Engineer Technology Development to be responsible for leading the Technology Development Process (TDP) for world-wide harvesting vehicle systems, components, and sub-systems. Duties: Lead multi-unit, multi-vehicle electrical system TDP projects. This includes facilitating meetings, developing and executing project plans, determining critical path issues, defining action plans, and communicating project status to management, other units, and suppliers.). In this position, you will:



Analyze world-wide customer needs and marketing requirements to determine requirements for new vehicle features, functions, and sensor applications.
Work with key electronic suppliers to identify new technologies or improve the application of existing technology to meet the ever-increasing requirements for performance and accuracy.
Lead the electrical team TDP group which involves providing work direction for two full-time engineers, multiple internal and external resources, and coordinating with world-wide harvesting vehicle design groups. Act as the liaison with the Enterprise Sensor Group, and the Intelligent Vehicle Systems (IVS) TDP group, and various universities to coordinate and manage joint TDP projects for sensors, machine automation, and intelligent vehicle development.
Work with core tech communities of practice to identify, select and develop best practices for new technology development.
Develop and execute activities to demonstrate proof of concepts and readiness of TDP projects to move into vehicle EPDP programs.

Education

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Ag, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Master of Science degree in Mechanical, Ag, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience, desired.
Required Skills and Experience

3 years of Project Management.
Work direction, and team leadership experience.
5-8 years of experience with vehicle system design, electrical hardware design, or software development for vehicle applications.
Experience with electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, or electro-mechanical systems.
Willingness to travel up to 25%, both in the U.S. and Internationally.
Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.
Desired Skills and Experience

Experience with agricultural and/or harvesting equipment.
