Position : Senior Electrical Engineer

As a leading independent power provider, operating over 80 power plants in the US, with a capacity of nearly 24,000 megawatts, our client has vast industry expertise and products that enable it to manage every aspect of power generation and optimize plant performance, lower fuel costs and maximize value. It is organized to be a customer-focused operating company.

Our search firm, The Adkins Group, has been retained to find a Senior Electrical Engineer. The engineering organization is focused on the largest construction project in the power industry. This individual will support Operations, Development, Capitol Projects and develop programs for reliability, on a practical, tactical and strategic basis.

Reporting to the Director of engineering, the person we’re looking for will have a BSEE, 10 years experience in power generation engineering, be a registered Professional Engineer and possess outstanding leadership skills. The focus of the position will be centered around construction projects, centralization, supporting planned and unplanned outages to get plants up and running with an emphasis on project development, construction and commissioning.

This is a new engineering organization developed within the past 2 years. As such there is a lot of freedom within the group. The focus of the group is to provide significant reliability improvements across all plants. The individual we’re looking for will have an established home office to support the operations. Travel will be minimal (less than 20%).

Position Description:



· Provide electrical engineering support to Operations, Development, Capitol Projects and other internal organizations. Provide electrical engineering oversight for major programs and tasks from program development and rollout through execution.

· Responds to unplanned plant outages, assisting plant staff with root cause determination and corrective action implementation. Determines extent of concern to the operating fleet and makes corrective and preventive action recommendations on a technical, schedule and cost basis.

· Provide a leadership role in the development and resolution of major technical issues effecting safety, reliability, availability, and efficient plant/fleet operations. Prepare comprehensive technical bulletins for distribution to the operating fleet.

· Develops standards to optimize plant electrical systems and equipment operation.

· Support capitol projects via the preparation of technical specifications, contracting documentation, and scope of work.

· Owner’s Engineer responsibility while interfacing with OEM’s, ISO’s, local utilities, Architectural Engineering (A/E) firms, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction.



Job Requirements:



- Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET accredited university.

- A minimum of five years experience in power generation engineering with strong technical leadership skills with regard to project implementation, root cause analysis, system troubleshooting, and utility interfacing.

- Proficient with electrical system protection analysis.

- Experience with the application of industry codes and standards as related to electrical equipment and plant systems.

- Design experience with new or retrofit power projects preferred.

- Professional Electrical Engineering registration and license preferred.

- Superior verbal and written communication skills.

- Minimum computer literacy requirements: Microsoft Word, Excel,
