Position Description
This position will require the individuals with non-current related aerospace experience to pass up to 80 hours of unpaid pre-employment training. Electricians in this position install electrical systems, equipment and assemblies in the Join and Installation (J&I), System and Installations (S&I), Wing Stub Join (WSJ), Wing Body Join (WBJ), Final Body Join (FBJ), Final Assembly (FA) and various other major sub assembly shops. Employment in this position also requires occasional (1-3 hours) lifting less than 20 pounds, reaching, rotation of head/neck, standing, twisting at the waist, walking, bending at the waist, climbing/balancing, finger manipulation, flexion/extension and the use of personal safety gear for face, eyes and ears. This requisition will staff the following jobs across Puget Sound in Seattle, Renton, Tukwila, and Everett: 21203 ? Assembler Wire Group and 30104 ? Assembler Electrical Systems. Additional Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities: Locate work area using drawings which specifies airplane number, section number, and three-point location. Obtain and verify kitted (pre-picked) detail parts, standards, and assemblies were issued correctly. Ensure that parts issued are effective for the airplane and are free of visible defects. If parts are not pre-picked, get parts and ensure that parts selected are effective for the airplane and are free of visible defects. Operate mechanical lifts of various types as required. Set up assembly tools per tooling instructions or drawing. Cut wire(s) to specified length per drawing using wire cutters. Group and identify wire runs per drawing. Route, clamp and tie wires and/or wire bundles, hand form as necessary per drawing. Cut and install plastic sleeves over wire(s) and/or wire bundles, as required. Attach appropriate fittings to wire ends, (e.g., lug or spade connectors) crimp and terminate using hand or machine crimping tool(s). Hook-up and/or connect wiring to accessories (e.g., relays, circuit breakers, switches) per drawing using hand tools and/or soldering gun. Perform continuity tests of electrical assemblies using ohmmeter, test lights and other electrical testing equipment. Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner. Determine and obtain correct type and size fasteners per drawing and/or rivet or grip gauge to install parts/assemblies (e.g., standoffs, wire bundles, clamps). Install fasteners in correct sequence per drawing, using correct tools (e.g., rivet gun and bucking bar, drill motor, power screwdriver, C-squeeze, ratchet wrench, nut runner). Check work after completion of each operation in job and/or completed job to ensure it is complete per drawing.
Competencies
Drill, ream, hone, bore, lap and/or countersink straight and close tolerance holes.
Follow oral/written instructions provided by the lead, team leader or supervisor.
Knowledge of routing, clamping, tying, connecting and terminating wires and/or wire bundles in electrical systems and assemblies.
Mechanical ability, manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required to build various assemblies using drawings and instructions.
Operate computing equipment to access job information (e.g., drawings, specifications and other online information systems).
Organize work efficiently.
Read and interpret production illustrations (PI), wiring diagrams, and/or schematics. Capable of visualizing a three-dimensional shape from a two-dimensional view and understanding symbols, flag notes, and general notes.
Understand the application of technical documents/information such as BAC specifications, manufacturing plans and safety information.
Use math that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals and fractions.
Use various jigs and fixtures to orient parts into pre-defined positions for part fabrication and assembly.
Use various types of hand tools and/or hand-held power tools.
Use various types of precision measuring tools.
Work with others as part of a team which includes giving and receiving feedback, assisting others in completion of tasks; possess interpersonal, listening, and participation skills.
Education and/or Experience
High school graduate or GED preferred.
