TiVo's Media and Advertising division is responsible for developing advertising solutions and the associated data analytics for its Digital Video Recorder (DVR) and the cable set top box products. We are looking for a talented server engineer to join our team with strong server and database experience.
As a Server Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Developing ETL processes for large file based datasets used by the reporting systems and
Develop applications for authoring, management and delivery of advertising features to the DVR client. Here's what you'll get to do:
Understand product requirements from the business for new advertising features. Help business to define, refine, and simplify the requirements to achieve the same end-goal.
Translate the business requirements into high-level design specifications. Scope the effort for new development and/or extending features of existing server applications.
Work with the technical leads on an ongoing basis to improve the efficiency of ETL jobs in order to support the processing of large data sets
Participate in all aspects of software development including requirements analysis, effort estimation, technical investigation, software design and implementation, unit testing, and bug fixing
Work closely with the database server developers in designing efficient data storage and retrieval mechanisms to the extent of serving as their backup
Here is what you'll need to be successful:
4+ years of related experience
Strong skills and experience in Java, C++, PHP and Perl
Strong experience with relational database concepts and use.
Complex data structure modeling, optimization, and algorithm expertise.
Understanding of network programming.
Development experience on a Unix/Linux environment.
Experience designing/development highly scalable server systems.
Experience with development of a software product through more than one release cycle.
Experience with disciplined software development processes in a team environment.
B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
