Job Description:
Principal Scientist R&D Ophthalmic
PLANNING, executing, documenting and reporting lab activity at the individual contributor level to provide insight into underlying scientific principals of operation and evidence of scientific feasibility of new product ideas.
MONITOR and report on ongoing scientific changes and evolution within the ophthalmic surgical device industry.
PLANNING, executing, documenting and reporting lab activity to provide scientific data supporting marketing proof points of features on existing and new devices.
REVIEW and evaluate externally and internally generated new product ideas and provide evidence-based recommendations on next directions.
DEVELOP internal procedures and standards for maintenance of laboratory investigation records, quality of invention releases, and feasibility experiment design.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Ph.D. in physics, or other science area of equivalent experience in fluidics and ultrasound preferred. Candidates w/ an MS or a background in electrical or mechanical engineering will be considered based on past accomplishments.
EXPERIENCE: 10+ years preferred but portfolio of patents, papers and innovative development more critical.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Good laboratory and sciences skills expected, including documentation of activity. Must be capable of building up automated data collection systems and mathematical modeling and simulation of new concepts. Excellent oral and written communication skills required for communicating recommendations to management and external peers. Our client expects competence in Mathematica / MathCad or other simulation tool, as well as software manipulation of video images.
