This individual leads the accounting & close function for the Warranty/R&R and AOC Supply Chain functions with E&D Manufacturing and Supply Chain. This includes the following areas: review of entries for correctness and accuracy, resolution of accounting issues and management of close process, production of close reports & support of audit and compliance activities. In addition to be a "source of knowledge" on accounting principles, the Close and Report Manager will lead process improvements with the objectives of (a) minimizing errors, (b) reducing rework and (c) reducing cycle time & increasing outputs and (d) improving controls and policy compliance.
Key levers to use in achieving these goals will be standardizing the use of tools, cost elements, profit centers and I/Os. The role requires a clear understanding of financial accounting, management accounting, and small team/workflow management experience.
Responsibilities
Manage and lead "close team" to deliver a timely period close for R&R and AOC Supply Chain.
Review and analyze critical entries (e.g. R&R, Inventory Adjustments) prior to posting by cost accounting team
Ensure all costs are accurately accounted for in the P&L and/or Balance Sheet after posting
Verify validity of allocated costs to business streams (e.g. Xbox, Zune, SDA)
Improve monthly close & related processes (e.g. less rework, execute weekly procedures, automation) - pushing solutions upstream to the root cause
Publish monthly close report at the expected time with the correct data
Support finance analyst team through the understanding of accounting entries performed at close
Improve process documentation and training (e.g. system, accounting)
Support Internal Control, Policy Compliance
Requirements
Bachelors degree in accounting, business administration or equivalent.
CPA required
7-10 years experience in accounting roles , primarily close and reporting
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards or equivalent)
Experience in high tech preferred
People management experience required
