The Logistics Manager of Americas Distribution & Logistics is responsible for leading initiatives in an outsourced logistics model on regional and global levels. The role will serve as a resident expert responsible for strategic and tactical leadership of Logistics Management and Canadian Distribution. To include, metric development and report presentation to all levels of management and clients, forecasting and vendor SLA performance, project planning, and identify and implement process improvement/cost reduction opportunities. Work across multiple groups to drive and deliver best in class service and costs. MS expects to reinvent many portions of the world wide supply chain and this position is critical to the success of this initiative.
Responsibilities:
Vendor Management: Directly responsible for 3PL performance, process definition, statement of work, 3PL measurement, process improvement, inventory management, tactical priority setting, compliance assessment and management meetings.
Strategic Contributor: Participate in strategy sessions, analyze solutions and proposed process definition, project management, industry benchmarking, 3PL capability and capacity assessment, and stay abreast of technology advancements within the Logistics industry.
Analysis and Planning: Develop and report performance metrics, root cause analysis, executive update, forecasting, budgeting and analysis to identify potential opportunities. Translate and manage channel forecasts into expected activity transactions for 3PL (SLA), identify performance variances from expectations with root cause analysis.
Customer Engagement: Work with all levels of management, meet with internal and external customers to improve overall supply chain performance; Ability to translate customer needs into an actionable plan
Collaboratively influence changes to the supply chain.
Personnel Development: Develop others through influence management, provide mentoring to functional counterparts on the role of distribution, influence 3PL performance and drive self-development activities.
Subject Matter Expert: Serve as a functional expert in transportation, experience and knowledge of transportation management systems, electronic data interchange, vendor contracts and negotiation principles.
Qualifications:
6+ years experience in operations management, preferably within a retailer or manufacturer shipping direct to retail
Extensive knowledge of operations management including previous experience with working with carriers, 3PL's, RFP's, routing optimization, lane analysis and procurement best practices
Demonstrated ability to write, speak and present information effectively across communication settings
4+ years managing internal or outsourced transportation
Experience with TMS and WMS systems and tertiary understanding of ERP, EDI and replenishment systems
Leadership with complex, cross functional projects including setting scope, reaching consensus, execution, and presenting results
Experience with MS Office Applications, including advanced knowledge of Excel, intermediate Access, MS Project and PowerPoint
4+ years experience responsibility for budgeting, P&L's, and activity based costing
Strong critical thinking and resolution in sometimes ambiguous situations
Self-driven initiative to gain and share a broader knowledge of supply chain
Travel is required, likely up to 20%
Education:
Bachelors degree in business, supply chain, operations management, or engineering
