Position Description
AOG candidate must be qualified, proficient and certified in all aspects of position applied for. "A" or "A&P" license preferred. Prefer at least 5 years Boeing aircraft manufacturing experience. Seeking professional, highly skilled self motivated dedicated personnel, proficient in the following skills: Structural Mechanic, Composite Mechanic, Functional Test/Avionics/Electrical Technician, Aircraft Rigging Mechanic, Large Component Removal and Reinstallation Mechanic with rigging experience. Be willing to travel anytime, anywhere with little to no advance notice and be assigned AOG type emergent work utilizing skills and abilities to ensure quality products for Boeing customers worldwide and locally. Must accept AOG assignments on any shift in the Puget Sound area and abroad to provide support for Boeing products. Operate computing equipment to access job information. Maintenance Manual experience desired. Boeing drawing knowledge required. Work with other highly skilled employees in close proximity in a team like environment. Be willing and able to work for extended periods of time for many days in adverse conditions and environments. Use and understand various precision measuring tools. Be able to communicate and take direction. Must be able to acquire and maintain core certifications to perform AOG work. Must be able to operate ground equipment such as forklifts, snorkel lifts, scissor lifts etc. Must be able to obtain a United States passport and be subject to an FAA mandated drug and alcohol test with random checks. Must be deemed physically able to perform AOG type work after a medical evaluation

Competencies
Knowledge of aircraft electrical and mechanical systems such as flight controls, engines, landing gear, radio, navigation systems, fuel injection systems, door rigging, flight control rigging, oxygen, ordnance and its handling.
Knowledge of aircraft power plant systems such as fire detection and extinguishing, environmental control, hydraulic, starting and fuel systems.
Knowledge of aircraft systems such as flight controls, power distribution, hydraulics, pneumatics, auxiliary power, proximity switch electronics, fueling, electronic engine control, and oxygen to enable performance of functional tests and other assigned tasks.
Knowledge of basic electricity.
Knowledge of electrical systems and wiring specifications and requirements to fabricate and/or install components.
Attention to detail; ensure all paperwork and computer data have been completed accurately.
Create various jigs and fixtures to orient parts into pre-defined positions for part fabrication and assembly.
Determine if discrepancies exist by obtaining information from multiple sources (e.g., drawings, BAC specifications, shop communication).
Drill, ream, hone, bore, lap and/or countersink straight and close tolerance holes.
Effectively communicate verbal information such as tie-ins and job related information.
Effectively communicate written information such as tie-ins, reports and/or required documentation. Maintain and update records.
Examine aircraft/aerospace parts, components, and/or assemblies for conformance with applicable drawings, specifications, quality standards, and manufacturing plans.
Follow oral/written instructions provided by the lead, team leader, supervisor and/or engineering.
Investigate and resolve problems; devise and implement solutions.
Knowledge of proper sealing techniques and correct cleaning procedures and solvents.
Knowledge of proper use, handling and disposal of hazardous materials per government regulations and Boeing procedures.
Knowledge of routing, clamping, tying, connecting and terminating wires and/or wire bundles in electrical systems and assemblies.
Knowledge of safe working practices, emergency procedures and possible dangerous situations.
Knowledge of the coordinate system to identify multiple axes (e.g., X,Y,Z) and airplane dimensional references (e.g., buttock, water and station lines).
Knowledge of various types of fasteners and allowable substitutions.
Make basic layouts on parts or assemblies in order to establish reference points and to check dimensions.
Mechanical ability, manual dexterity, and hand/eye coordination required to perform various projects, per engineering definition and verbal or written instructions.
Operate computing equipment to access job information (e.g., drawings, specifications and other online information systems).
Operate computing equipment to input job information (e.g., write tie-ins, reports, rejections, and/or maintain records, logs).
Operate various types of test equipment.
Read and interpret production illustrations (PI), wiring diagrams, and/or schematics. Capable of visualizing a three-dimensional shape from a two-dimensional view and understanding symbols, flag notes, and general notes.
Set-up and operate aircraft jacking equipment including body and wing jack pads and jacks to facilitate assembly, maintenance and repair work.
Think before acting,"" (e.g., anticipate outcome of an action, know if something looks wrong) and ask questions when necessary.
Troubleshoot and repair aircraft power plant and ancillary system faults (e.g., fire detection and extinguishing, environmental control, hydraulic, starting and fuel system problems).
Understand the application of technical documents/information such as BAC specifications, manufacturing plans and safety information.
Understanding of aircraft electronic technology such as auto-flight, radar, communication & navigation radios, and in-flight entertainment systems.
Use and create shop aids.
Use mathematics including practical math, algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
Use various types of hand tools and/or hand-held power tools.
Use various types of precision measuring tools.
Work alone/independently. Coordinate daily tasks with others to align priorities for smooth operation of joint workloads.
Work with others as part of a team which includes giving and receiving feedback, assisting others in completion of tasks; possess interpersonal, listening, and participation skills.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or GED required. Prior experience and proficiency required. Other advanced education and experience preferred.

Other Job related information
This is an hourly position governed by the IAM Collective Bargaining agreement. Positions in both Everett and Renton. Teamwork and self motivation required. Travel anytime, anywhere under stressful situations. Understand and react quickly to direction by peers, leads and management. May require the ability to obtain and maintain a passport if requested.
