Position Description
As a member of the National Team 'B', the Systems Engineers primary responsibility is to work as a member of the Concurrent Test, Training, and Operations (CTTO) systems engineering and development team to document innovative solutions in the form of trade studies and standards. These trade studies and standards will form the basis of CTTO development. Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Performs analyses for safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. Develops, maintains and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes. Resolves cross-functional technical issues. Works under minimal direction. -----------------------Technical Skills/Experience Required------------------------------------------------ The candidate must possess an understanding of systems engineering process and logistics principles. The candidate must have knowledge of SOA, Enterprise Service bus, data modeling, and PKI architectures. A candidate should have a proven track record of successfully applying system engineering principles to develop product solutions and long range system support and planning. Candidates should have experience developing system engineering artifacts to define maintenance requirements and integrated logistics support planning. Familiarity with the application and use of systems engineering tools for requirements management (e.g. DOORS) is desirable. Candidates must have experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software and specialty engineers to develop solutions using NTB processes and methods. Concurrent Test Training and Operations team members include other MDA element and DOD engineers. Skills required include identification and definition of desired capabilities, fielding of new capabilities, system-of-system definition, integration practices and methods, communicating the desired capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users. The Engineer must understand systems engineering, systems design and development. The candidate will possess 10-15 years experience in a related engineering environment, with good experience and expertise in systems-of-systems definition and integration. Experience in Ballistic Missile defense and training systems is highly desired. Ability to analyze high level needs and through a structured and logical approach refine the need into an integrated set of requirements that leads to a fielded product. Ability to lead portions of the activity and direct the activities of junior and mid-level engineers. Excellent communications skills desired (written and oral). Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings. Able to write and implement engineering plans within a project. Must posses a DoD SECRET clearance, a TOP SECRET clearance is a plus.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry and typically 9 to 13 years experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 7 to 11 years experience or a PhD degree with 4 to 8 years experience in an engineering classification. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
