Explanation Statement



John Deere Des Moines Works is seeking a Supply Management Planner to interact with indirect suppliers on a daily basis to verify delivery of product to support Manufacturing, Maintenance and Facilities. In this position, you will:

Manage bi-monthly face to face meetings with key suppliers to review schedules.
Provide information to the Supply Management Specialists regarding supplier performance for use in Achieving Excellence evaluations and management of the supplier.
Manage the proper inventory level on high dollar items in expense stores.
Ensure the proper delivery methods are selected so that the product will arrive on time for the least cost.
Serve as a backup to the Supply Management Specialist for Supplier Change Requests and Contract Management.
Schedule and expedite orders with indirect suppliers.
Work with user and supplier on date conflict.
Be responsible for managing the Certificates of Insurance logbook and getting renewals as needed.
Provide tax exemption certificates to suppliers.
Resolve Common Purchasing System (CPS) work queues to ensure accurate and timely payment to suppliers.
Process packing slips for scanning or manual filing.
Substitute for the lobby receptionist as needed.



Education

Associate degree in Business/Management or Supply Management or equivalent experience.
Required Skills and Experience

Experience using computer applications, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Good interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Work experience in a team environment.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Desired Skills and Experience

General knowledge of factory processes and operations.
Experience using a Common Purchasing System (CPS) or SAP.
Experience working with invoices, shipping/receiving, and/or purchase orders.
Experience in supply management, as a planner or buyer.
Indirect purchasing experience working with Maintenance Repair Orders (MRO).
