John Deere Augusta is seeking a Product Safety Engineer to coordinate, plan, present, and tracks information and issues as secretary of the factory product safety committee (FPSC) meetings covering Compact Utility Tractors and Utility Tractors. In this position, you will:

Plan, schedule and chair new and revised product safety reviews (HDRS).
Chair risk assessment meetings for new and revised products.
Provide answers to Interrogatories and Requests to Produce at the direction of the legal department.
Investigate machine accident or incidents and provides a report at the direction of the legal department.
Testify on behalf of Deere when a deposition or an expert witness is requested at the direction of the legal department.
Assist the FPSC Chairperson with record retention of minutes; product incident reports (PIR) and agenda items according to record retention policies.
Advise product line on the interpretation and application of product safety principles to assure compliance and enterprise consistency.
Maintain knowledge of industry and technical trends and practices in the area of product safety, standards, regulations and homologation.
Arrange periodic product safety related seminars for factory employees.
Act as the Voice of the customer and advocate for product safety.

Education

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or 6+ years of equivalent experience.
Required Skills and Experience

Functional understanding of the design, operation, and manufacturing processes for tractors.
Knowledge of engineering principles, theory and practice as well as product knowledge.
Knowledge of standards and regulatory compliance (including homologation).
Knowledge of Enterprise Product Delivery Process.
Must be willing to travel a minimum of 20%.
Desired Skills and Experience

Certified Fire Investigator (CFI).
Professional Engineering License in mechanical or electrical engineering.
Knowledge of industry standards relating to engineering.
