John Deere Seeding Group is seeking a Product Test Engineer to work with fellow test engineers to identify design risks and develop and execute Product Verification &Validation (PV&V) plans to verify components, subsystems, or systems for production. This will include methods to verify performance, durability and customer acceptance on a wide range of seeding products and systems. In this position, you will:
Write test instructions in a timely manner and test reports for all lab and field tests within two weeks of test completion.
Develop and review supplier test plans and document supplier test results within V2 Net.
With supervision, use available analysis tools including: project risk assessment, design risk assessment, design of experiments (DOE), failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), signal analysis software, Weibull analysis, and root cause analysis.
Define corner conditions and operating loads for new tests. Characterize operating loads using appropriate data acquisition methods/techniques if loads are unknown.
Become fluent in recognizing and identifying root cause of component failures on test. Perform tests in a safe manner.
Perform safety review on all new tests as well as perform safety audit of your work area and tests once per month.
Education
Bachelor of Science in Agricultural or Mechanical Engineering or 6+ years of equivalent experience.
Required Skills and Experience
2+ years of Product or Test Engineering experience.
Experience using data acquisition equipment.
Experience with hydraulic, electrical and mechanical equipment.
Willingness to travel up to 25%, both in the U.S. and Internationally.
Desired Skills and Experience
Knowledge of materials and fatigue life methods.
Test or design analysis experience.
Background in data acquisition equipment.
Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and software systems.
Experience with operation, design, or testing of agricultural or heavy equipment
Working knowledge of hydraulic cylinders and systems.
Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Risk Assessment, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and other PV&V processes.
Technical experience relating to design and diagnostics of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems.
