John Deere Waterloo is seeking a 1st shift Production Supervisor to support Drive Train Gear Division manufacturing operations. In this position you will:
Be responsible for achieving departmental/area goals and objectives focusing in the areas of delivery, quality, safety and cost.
Supervise semi to highly skilled production employees on an assigned shift.
Serve as first-line liaison between production employees and management staff and represent the company's interests with shop floor staff.
Establish the employee environment regarding communications, feedback and overall guidance.
Ensure that your personnel have appropriate training, work instruction and tools to successfully do their job.
Administer employee policies, practices, procedures and work rules appropriate for the business.
Monitor individual and department performance, taking corrective action including discipline as needed.
Respond to complaints to insure the Company and employees adhere to policies, practices, procedures and work rules.
Determine manufacturing priorities for your department based on the production schedule and making daily assignments, including filling vacancies and assigning overtime in order to adhere to customer demand.
Maximize uptime and utilize capital equipment assets by driving improvements in operations.
Track and verify department budget.
Drive department continuous improvement efforts using the CI GROW process.
Education
Degree in a Business/Management discipline or equivalent work experience.
Required Skills and Experience
Knowledge of manufacturing and machining processes, quality, tooling, tool design, and total preventative maintenance.
Knowledge of general accounting, employee policies/work rules, safety, material management and employee development.
Strong motivator and self starter.
Demonstrated leadership ability.
Desired Skills and Experience
1 — 2 years supervisory experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
Experience working in a union environment.
Experience working with SAP.
Knowledge of shop floor manufacturing incentive production pay systems.
Working knowledge of standard computer systems, i.e. Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
