Project Summary: The Academy for Educational Development is an independent, nonprofit organization committed to addressing human development needs in the United States and throughout the world. To that end, the Human Resources Department provides value-added services in the areas of staff recruitment and retention; benefits administration; compensation analysis and administration; employee relations and training and development.

Position Summary: The Sr Training Specialist will work from within the Human Resources team to support a variety of professional development and employee-focused initiatives. Under the guidance of the Associate Director, Corporate Training, the Sr. Training Specialist will develop, organize, and conduct instructor led training and educational programs in connection with employee development and on the job training. The incumbent will assist in assessing needs to determine training demands and develop training modules and instructional materials accordingly.

Essential Job Functions:

Duties include, but are not limited to:
Developing training modules and educational materials.

Formulating teaching outlines and determining instructional methods such as, group instruction, lectures, meetings and workshops.

Collaborating on the review, evaluation and modification of existing and proposed training programs and products.

Developing training aids, such as instructional manuals, handouts, evaluation forms and visual aids.

Conducting AED training programs related to HR management, labor law, and AED policies and procedures.

Assisting in development and implementation of means of measuring effectiveness of training programs through testing, reaction to training, cognitive learning of processes and procedures, changes in operational efficiency, retention, etc.

Preparing reports on training activities and effectiveness.

Serving as primary contact for outside vendors of training programs and products.

Assisting in development and maintenance of a training library consisting of training manuals, handouts, presentations and visual aids.

As appropriate, participate in professional meetings to keep abreast of current trends and research; present and disseminate results of activities; and identify possible support and collaboration for activities.

Performing other job-related duties as needed or requested.

Education: Masters or equivalent work experience required.


Degree Fields: Business or Business Administration or Education or Human Development or Human Resources Management or Industrial Relations or Industry & Labor Relations or Instructional Technology or Management or Management Science or Personnel & Labor Management.

Experience: 6 year(s) of relevant experience required.

Skills:

MA in instructional design, organizational development, training, human resources, communications, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience;

Minimum six years' prior work experience to include three years documented instructional design experience and 3 years of stand-up (platform) instructional experience. Direct experience in training needs analysis and assessment also required.

Demonstrated familiarity with precepts of multiple adult learning methodologies and curriculum development techniques;

Strong organizational skills, including task and time management. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate activities in multiple locations and meet deadlines; Ability to adapt to an environment with multiple and shifting priorities;

Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work independently as well as in diverse and team- oriented environment is essential;

Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills with a diverse audience. Excellent written/verbal language skills;

Excellent computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheet software, experience with databases and PowerPoint presentations;

Commitment to diversity and customer service as demonstrated by communication and partnership development skills;

Previous experience in international or cross cultural context is strongly preferred.
