Job Purpose
The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer will develop the next generation, leading edge Electric Generator products for GE Energy customers. As an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer supporting Electric Generators, you will:
Work in a highly cross-functional environment with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Product Management and Supplier leaders to influence and introduce design configurations with extraordinary quality, that are highly manufactureable and cost effective for our customers.
Utilizing a New Product Introduction tollgate process, individuals will be responsible for producibility / process capability, manufacturing process development, tool design, integrated schedules, design to cost, Sourcing technical support, Quality qualifications, test support, product cost out, P&E and introduction into the supply chain.
Support 6-Sigma and Lean manufacturing initiatives.
Provide technical leadership for Generator manufacturing processes such as Rotor and Stator component manufacture and their subassembly. Generator Final Assembly, and associated stationary / rotating testing.
Specific skills in composite and electrical insulation systems; metal forming, machining, and joining processes; and electric machine assembly process development is desired.
Own or support manufacturing engineering projects requiring development of specifications, supplier management, purchase, installation and qualification of manufacturing equipment.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Minimum of 5 years of engineering and/or supply chain management experience.
Minimum of 5 years experience in a project leadership position within an engineering, manufacturing or supply chain function.
Minimum of 5 years experience reading and understanding technical specifications, blueprints and bills of material.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Unrestricted ability to work in the US and travel aboard.
Ability to work in a matrix organization with minimal supervision.
Ability to maneuver, stand, and work on the shop floor of a large manufacturing facility for up to 4 hours at a time.
Domestic and international travel may be required up to 30%.
Desired
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Materials Engineering.
Enterprise Resources Planning System (ERP) experience (COPICS, Oracle, SAP) Proficient with CAM / Unigraphics.
At least 3 years of tool or manufacturing process design experience.
Electro-mechanical design experience of large electric machines
Six Sigma Green Belt certified (GE employees only).
Up to date technical knowledge of the latest trends in manufacturing technology and the ability to apply and adapt the technology to new situations.
Strong "hands on" work experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.
