Overview:
Microsoft is a world leader in the design of personal computer input devices. We are currently looking for person with a passion for technology to drive the verification of new integrated communications devices. The candidate will be part of a fast paced concurrent engineering team comprised of all functional disciplines to bring new products to market. Primary responsibilities will include: 1) the development and execution of design verification plans for video imaging devices, microprocessor platforms and commercial modules that form the building blocks for those devices; and 2) the development of manufacturing test plans to move products into high volume production.
Expectations:
Candidates will be required to contribute a high level of system design understanding in the interaction of firmware, standard computer interfaces such USB, wireless interfaces, software drivers and operating systems.
Engineer will be responsible for characterizing imaging systems using a working knowledge of color pipe specifications, video compression algorithms and feedback loops for camera products. The verification engineer will be responsible for working closely with design, marketing and usability teams to identify and define key product performance metrics. He/she should be able to use good understanding of image sensor technology to drive component selection for imaging systems.
Candidate will be required to apply video and image characterization expertise and knowledge of industry standards in developing test cases and laboratory test environments. She/he should be able to combine an understanding of optics, color science and hardware design principles to provide insight on risks and design trade-offs during development.
Solid electrical engineering and data analysis practices will be required throughout the product cycle including: review and understanding of industry standard specifications for interfaces; product specification review, design analysis, performing risk analysis and developing contingency plans, participating in design reviews, performing verification of design functionality and PC compatibility.
Candidates should have excellent leadership skills; drive to solve technical issues and a passion for delivering world class products. Applicant will function as a development team member through the development cycle and will be responsible for creating complete design verification plans and schedules; architecting new tests and techniques while tracking tasks against deliverables and project milestones; and communicating product performance information to the extended technical and business team.
Strong skill-sets in analysis and problem solving as well as communication are required. Candidate should be a team player capable of delivering in a collaborative work environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
A BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related degree with relevant experience.
Experience in design verification of high volume consumer electronic devices.
3+ years of work experience in the image processing field.
Excellent interpersonal skills including written and oral communications.
Ability to demonstrate a strong skill-set in analytical problem solving, a history of increasing responsibilities and decision-making experience.
Working knowledge of Visual Basic or C/C++ and MATLAB.
Preferable Qualifications:
Ph.D in imaging or color science
Experience with image/video compression technology and formats (RAW, YUV, JPEG, MPEG, H.264, etc.)
Strong knowledge of imaging optics, CMOS sensors, and Color Science is desirable.
Working knowledge of USB interface technology.
Experience with low power RF designs in the 27 MHz to 2.4 GHz spectrum.
Experience working with Asian partners to bring high volume consumer products into production.
Detailed knowledge of PC architecture.
