Job Description/Duties: Zedi is recruiting a SCADA Technical Lead/Project Coordinator for its Calgary office. As a key member of the Engineered Solutions Team, the ideal candidate will be skilled in all aspects of automation engineering concepts and techniques. This full-time role will be responsible for:
· Providing hardware and Web Interface direction for all projects provided by Zedi. This includes Smart-Alek (all versions), RTU’s and ancillary equipment needed to fulfill orders within the Engineered Solutions department.
· Provides project coordination and management direction for Zedi, contractors and service companies who may be installing the solutions provided by Zedi.
· Determines automation strategies and solves engineering design issues by evaluating current automation trends; studying project objectives; analyzing production requirements; evaluating similar and related automation applications, information technology systems, and engineering and mechanical processes; identifying and establishing performance standards.
· Organizes and completes automation engineering design projects by identifying short-term and long-range issues; preparing timetables, cost estimates, required resources and installation coordination and commissioning.
· Develops future engineering design plans by researching, analyzing, selecting, and applying automation engineering concepts and criteria. Collaborates and prepares drawings, schematics, diagrams, and RTU/PLC applications; collaborating with related staff and external system suppliers; evaluating components, materials, and suppliers; identifying and resolving design integration/interface issues; determining and establishing automation design specifications and safety standards.
· Verifies and validates design performance by establishing reliability, maintainability, quality and durability standards; building and testing models and simulations; performing diagnostic procedures; analyzing test data; identifying, isolating, and resolving performance problems.
· Implements automation engineering projects by specifying equipment purchases; providing technical support; troubleshooting and resolving production problems related to engineering design. Ensures project compliance within regulatory body requirements. Controls installation standards and works with installation providers to ensure quality.
· Provides direction to the Operations Division regarding fabrication, inventory and drawing standards.
· Updates job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging automation engineering technologies and practices; participating in educational opportunities and professional organizations; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks.
· Works with Sales Department as Subject Matter Expert in measurement, control, automation and work process strategies as it relates to Zedi services to our client base.
· Maintains relationships with various vendors and service providers to Zedi as it relates to CSS.
Qualifications:
· Journeyman Instrumentation certification (Provincial and Interprovincial) or Instrumentation Technologist – certifiable as an ASET CET or RET with 20+ years experience in SCADA/Automation design in an Oil and Gas Environment.
· Post Secondary diploma/degree in applicable automation, electronics and mechanical discipline.
· Supervisory experience in automation and support environments.
· Design Skills, Analyzing information, strong in PC applications, verbal communication, CAD, attention to detail, technical zeal, quick study, quality focus, strong instrumentation and SCADA knowledge at the device and host levels.
· Work experience at a producer level, engineering company is an asset.
· Must be self-motivated, responsible and have good decision-making skills. Must have good interpersonal skills, and have leadership ability.
